Camp Curriculum

Based on the Sunshine State Standards, the following skills and activities create the curriculum for the Fitness for Kids Summer Camp. Our campers will have eight different classes a day that will guarantee learning, fitness, and FUN!

 

Physical Education, Fitness and Dance.

  • Spatial Awareness
  • Locomotor and non-locomotor movements
  • Manipulative skills/Sport skill development
  • Cooperative activities and games
  • Square and line dancing
  • Step aerobics, kickboxing, circuit training
  • Basic tumbling
  • Sports: Football, Soccer,Basketball
 

 

Arts and Crafts

  • Elements of art: Color, Shape, Line, and Texture
  • Artist of the week will include: Monet, Leonardo Da Vinci, Pablo Picasso, Kandinsky, Georgia O’Keefe, Matisse, James Audubon
  • Crafts include: Frames, friendship bracelets, drip pan art, shrink art, etc.
 

 

Drama

  • Narrative and physical pantomime
  • Improvisation
  • Role drama activities
  • Guided imagery and relaxation techniques
 

 

Music

  • Song and movement activities
    • Children will learn and sing traditional camp songs, silly songs, sport related songs (Take Me Out to the Ball game) and theme related songs
  • Rhythm instruments
    • There will be movement activities related to varying themes. Rhythm instruments will be used to add variety to songs and teach beat. Rhythm instruments will also be used to create sound effects for drama activities
  • Music will also be incorporated into the background of art activities

Instructional Swimming.
Our curriculum for swimming meets the requirements for the American Red Cross.
